You must get a Temporary Visa from the Japanese embassy and consulate abroad when you visit Japan for sightseeing or business and stay within 90 days. (Except for a person who is from a country with a Visa Exemption Agreement)

This applies in the most countries such as China, South Korea, India, and Russia, Brazil etc (Asia, Africa, and CIS). This Visa is to stay in Japan temporarily, which limits your activities.

The following purposes of the visit are applicable------sightseeing, visiting your family or friends, medical treatment, visit someone who is sick, participating in sport competitions, marketing, dicker, signing a contract, applying for university (college) examinations etc.

The length of stay is two types, 90days or 15days.

If you are granted this Visa, and get this status of residence, you are not allowed to earn money in Japan. Recently, a growing number of people who have this Visa are working illegally. You have to be careful because the Japanese authorities heavily penalize both parties involved in illegal employment (i.e. the employer, the employee).
